G. Creighton Webb papers, 1829-1941 (bulk 1898-1941).

Correspondence and papers, mostly 1898-1941, but including some earlier material related to family history. The collection includes about 200 items related to Webb's service in the Cuba campaign during the Spanish-American War, and large quantities of mimeographed material relating to the war: copies of official letters and communications from H.Q., 5th Army Corps (Major General William R. Shafter), and communications from General Calixto Garcia, Major General José Toral, Major General Joseph Wheeler, Secretary of War Russell A. Alger, and correspondence relating to the U.S. Navy's part in the campaign against Santiago de Cuba. The collection also contains personal correspondence, 1935-1935, mostly drafts of Webb's own letters to friends, including some to Marshal Henri Philippe Pétain; they deal mainly with the domestic and foreign policies of the Roosevelt administration, and international affairs in general. There are also correspondence and papers relating to the genealogy of the Webb and related families, to Colonel Webb's biography, the Society of the Cincinnati, the Society of the Army of Santiago de Cuba, and other miscellaneous papers. The collection includes a school notebook for the year 1859, three early nineteenth-century autograph albums, one dated 1829, and a number of blank certificates of membership in the Yale Athletic Club.
